Day 2 Daniel Fast Devotional - Set Apart Vessels- by Ryan and Kortni Kubicina
Romans 6
“15What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means! 16Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as slaves, you are slaves to the one whom you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? “17But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching to which you were entrusted. 18You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.”
One of the reasons the gospel is “good news”is that you and I have been given grace to overcome sin in our lives. In fact, scripture declares that we have been enabled by the Holy Spirit to obey from the heart. What a priviledge….to have been given a new heart in Christ and to be a set apart vessel that He continues to supernaturally enable. This is also known as Spirit empowered holiness.
Today, as you set your affections toward Jesus, meditate on His grace that enables you to overcome besetting sin in your life. Hebrews 12:1 says, “let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.“ The weight of sin was meant to be repented of and thrown off. It is not part of your true nature! You have everything for life and godliness already in you….it just needs activated by faith and humility. Faith and humility are the doorways to the supernatural empowerment of the Holy Spirit. You were re-birthed for triumphant victory over sin and shame. Anything less than this is to walk beneath your truest self. We should never have a “management plan” for sin. It destroys our spirit and contaminates relationships with God and others.
May you encounter His goodness that leads you to repentance today. That you would be a vessel of honor, useful to the Master for every good work. For it is Him who is working in you! Settle for nothing less.
