Day 6 Daniel Fast Devotional_Power of Blessing_John and Kathy Lee

May the LORD bless you and protect you.  May the LORD smile on you and be gracious to you.  May the LORD show you his favor and give you his peace.

Numbers 6:24-26  NLT

Words have creative power, both positive and negative, especially when spoken by those in positions of authority.  In this time of “realignment” the spoken blessing is imperative to us individually and as the corporate tribe.

Jewish families know the importance of the blessing. A ceremony (a Bar Mitzvah for boys, and a Bat Mitzvah for girls) is held when the child is of age.  The father speaks blessings over his child, validating him for who he is in God. It is no accident that Jews, as an ethnic group, are considered prosperous.  They grow up hearing they are God’s chosen people - with destiny and purpose.

The events of life shape our future in many ways.  The environment we live in as well as the words spoken over us greatly affect us.  If in your life you have not received the blessing of your father, now is a great time to ask for a father’s blessing from the leaders in the Rock Tribe.

Receiving a blessing can remove burdens and break curses from your life.  Blessing allows you to properly deal with the past, and propels you into the future.  A total transformation can take place! Don’t let anything keep you from your blessing and from speaking blessing over others!

When God is with us, who can be against us; so proclaiming the blessing of the Lord over our families, churches, cities and nations carries His reward. The blessing of God is more powerful than a curse.

So, let the blessings flow!

I love it. Great word. I’ve never equated the prosperity of Jewish people with the power of the spoken blessing. But it would make sense that a culture with spoken blessing and destiny so intricately weaved in would be so prosperous. Thanks Johnny.

Amen! Let’s make blessing one another (and especially our natural and spiritual children) a more intentional reality in our culture as believers in Christ. And even blessing those who persecute us-now that’s supernatural !
