Day 7 Daniel Fast Devotional_Possessing Our Inheritance_Kevin and Terri Roosien
Psalms 2:7-8: “The Lord said to me, ‘You are my son. Today I have become your Father. Only ask, and I will give the nations as your inheritance, the ends of the earth as your possession’.”
These two short little verses in Psalms 2 contain a powerful message. It’s a message that is at the core of who we are, what we are, and where we are. The “who” we are is why the Christian message is unique over any other faith. God Himself, the Creator-God, the All-Powerful God, has adopted insignificant you and me into a Grand Kingdom. Imagine that! Out of His sheer love, the Force of the universe, the Almighty One, has loved us in a personal, intimate, family kind of love. No requirements of performance, good works, inherent skills or talents or goodness, but because He simply loved us and chose us to be HIS. We of all people need no more motivation than this to love and serve our Master. We’re His!
This brings me to the “what” we are that we already touched on, and that is our nature of royalty. We are sons and daughters of the King. Not just any King, but THE King. So what does this mean? It means that we must act according to “what” we are! We’ve been given position, power, and authority within the Kingdom. That’s what royalty does - they reign, the rule, and they dominate. So how does that apply to our lives here and now on planet earth?
Planet earth is our “where”. We have been placed here on this planet, at this time in our lives, to possess our inheritance. The ends of the earth, and the nations of the earth are our possessions, because it is within the boundaries of the Kingdom. It’s the Father’s desire to bring everything that we see under his rule and reign, and the Lord tells us that we must only ask! This is where prayer and fasting come in. We already have the promise of reward, but we must enter in to the Royal Army to battle for it. As the King’s subjects, our duty is to hear the King’s commands, discern His judgements and decrees, and carry them out throughout this planet. So let’s press in during this time of coming before our Father to hear His voice, discern His commands, and ask for His power and grace to be valiant sons and daughters in possessing the land.

Got something to say?

Thanks Kevin and Terri. We were just praying last night at the Portal with 2 of our house churches that our boundaries of influence would include more of the nations. Thanks for reminding us of how grand Jesus inheritance for us is.
