Day 9 Daniel Fast Devotional- Fresh Wineskins_Corey and Debra Grindle

Then John’s disciples came and asked him, “How is it that we and the Pharisees fast, but your disciples do not fast?”  Jesus answered, “How can the guests of the bridegroom mourn while he is with them? The time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them; then they will fast. No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, for the patch will pull away from the garment, making the tear worse. Neither do men pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins will burst, the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.”  -Matthew 9:14-17
Dearest R.O.C.K. Family:  We do not fast for fasting’s sake, but because we are stirred by the Holy Spirit.  When we act with the right spirit, the spirit of Christ within us, the spirit of coming closer to Jesus, closer to the Fathering heart of God…  that activity draws the presence of God into our midst.  Christ indwells those who seek Him, those who ask Him, those who are willing to chase Him.

He fills us to the capacity of our willingness; with the wine of the Holy Spirit’s presence.

We fast to kill the flesh, to discard the old wineskin and make ourselves ready for what is new… what is yet to come.  You have been the new wineskin before and He is asking you to be the new wineskin again!  Prepare yourselves anew for the new wine to come.  Increase your willingness, your capacity, because the Father is bringing greater revelation and presence than we have ever known.  If we make ourselves ready for what He is bringing, He will bring it.  Believe!  Make yourselves willing to accommodate the unbelievable, and He will pour into us the unbelievable!  We have been chosen to pour out onto the world what is poured into us.  Father, help us to be willing to be stretched beyond what we have ever known, to drink deeply of the wine you pour into us.  I believe you, R.O.C.K.  family, to be the chosen vessels for God’s indwelling today.  Let us use this time to become the vessels God has chosen for His glory.
