Gang Graffiti Covers Our Campus Today

KCPD officers at the Training Center parking lot
As I woke up this morning, I noticed my cell phone going crazy. I noticed many people in the neighborhood were trying to contact me about the deluge of gang graffiti that hit our entire campus overnight. Ironically, we had just held our Lykins neighborhood Association’s meeting last night, where we discussed with police the need to move forward in 2010 on graffiti abatement, abandoned houses, and gang activity. Well there you go! Now we have to deal with it! :) Let this be a standalone reminder of our need to pray. This is totally a spiritual battle that is making its mark in the natural. A turf war is what this is all about.
A local neighbor came over to me while I was speaking to our officers, and said he would like to make a suggestion that we install video cameras around the campus so police can have surveillance video to use in prosecution. I told him that we would eventually love to do it, but our budget could not afford that right now. He then quickly answered back by saying ” I will give you $50 right now as starter money to get this done.” I was amazed that an inner city neighbor would make such a bold statement and action of faith. I humbly received his encouragement and told him I would pass on the information. We have started a fund for acquiring security cameras. If you would like to join us in that you can give by clicking here.
Please join us in prayer to see these gangs in the urban core come into the Kingdom of God. Pray that the Kingdom of God’s turf would expand in the midst of darkness.
We will be having a painting party to cover the graffiti on Friday if the weather is nice. Please join us if you can.
Thanks and have a blessed day!
Ryan

Let’s not even be discouraged by this!
Lord we bless whoever did this in Jesus’ name and we ask that by your kindness you would lead them to repentance.
