Day 13 Daniel Fast Devotional_Intimacy with Father_Bob and Diana Seabeck

“I and the Father are one “John 10: 30

Dear Lord Jesus, the closeness with the Father that you have is our desire, individually and corporately.  We have experienced the re-birth of your new life in the Spirit, but have not experienced the transformation that is promised as possible in the Bible.  Our desires have been to have the gifts and blessings from your hands-for healing and provision, but now we want to know God most intimately as Abba, Father-as the one who loves us, from heart to heart, as you know HIM, Jesus.

During your earthly ministry as you modeled life for us, you suffered every sorrow, disappointment and pain in relationships that we experience and much more. In your walk toward death you were abandoned by everyone, mocked, denied by the twelve you had loved, taught and in whom you invested your life. The physical pain you endured for us in the beating and scourging that tore out chunks of your flesh, the crown of thorns, the nails and the cross was the huge payment our sins required. This act of yours is so profound we cannot comprehend the agony you went through, but now we understand more. Your greatest pain must have been the moment upon the cross when you cried out, ELOI, ELOI, LAMN SABACHTHANI, (Matt. 27: 46), as the sins of all mankind fell upon you.  “Why have you forsaken me?” Separation from the Father must have been the greatest terror, your greatest pain and sacrifice, your greatest grief and loss.

Now we choose to make a small sacrifice-the riches of our American culture, its clouding chemical additives, the distracting pleasures, numbing rhythms and noise. We choose to set aside a time and remove ourselves from the things and areas that are obscuring our ability to see and hear you. We seek a window of clarity-physical, mental and spiritual-clearing the mechanisms for more of you.  As  we separate our lives from distractions, Lord Jesus grant us forgiveness and grace that our eyes would clear to see you,  our hearts soften to know  and please  you, may the noise of the world leave our ears that we may hear your life-giving voice.  Grant us your grace that we could also experience the same joy you have in saying, we only do the Father’s will.  We want to say with faith and confidence, individually and corporately-Father, you do love us, we hear and obey you, we participate in bringing your will and Kingdom to earth as it is in heaven.

Thanks, Bob & Diana. Yes, let us make the small sacrifice (compared to Jesus’) and press in to forsake the world and commune nearer with Jesus.
