Day 17 Daniel Fast Devotional - January 24, 2010

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. -Psalm 34:18

Praise the Lord.  How good it is to sing praises to our God, how pleasant and fitting to praise Him!  The Lord builds up Jerusalem; He gathers the exiles of Israel.  He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. -Psalm 147:1-3

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the poor.  He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners… -Isaiah 61:1

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, You will not despise. -Psalm 51:17

To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassing great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me.  Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me.  But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.”  Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.  That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties.  For when I am weak, then I am strong.” -2 Corinthians 12:7-10

As we near the end of this year’s corporate Daniel fast, how are we doing?  Are we exhausted?  Tired of the diet?  Frustrated with our physical discomforts?  Or are we exhilarated with answers to prayer?  Excited about the revelations and strategies we have gained?  Encouraged with a closer nearness to God’s presence?  One thing I have been reminded of during this fast is that I am a weak, broken vessel.  True, we all want to be victorious overcoming warrior-sons and daughters.  Yet we can only be these when we acknowledge our weaknesses before Him.  Like Paul before us, who, according to his second letter to the church in Corinth, experienced great revelations but was tormented in his flesh to keep from pride, we, too, may have received some awesome revelations during this fast.  Nevertheless, we are reminded to stay low and remain in a humble spirit.  Then we will attract our Father’s pleasure, power and presence in our lives.

By acknowledging our weaknesses, we put ourselves in a position which is always dependent on the Spirit of God, Who resides within us!  That’s a comforting thought, or more importantly, an important truth!  The Spirit of our King, our Father resides within us to give us aid, strength and power when we need it.  He gives us Himself.  How can we live otherwise?  In this coming year, we have great expectations, for He has promised so much to us.  Let us therefore press on to grab a hold of all He has for us, but in humility and weakness, and therefore in His grace and strength.

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all,

El Señor está cerca de los quebrantados de corazón y salva a los que están aplastados en espíritu. Salmo 34:18

¡Alabado sea el Señor. ¡Qué bueno es cantar alabanzas a Dios nuestro, cuán placentero y adecuado para alabarlo, el Señor edifica a Jerusalén; Reúne a los exiliados de Israel. El sana a los quebrantados de corazón y venda sus heridas. Salmo 147: 1-3

El Espíritu del Señor omnipotente está sobre mí, porque el Señor me ha ungido para anunciar buenas nuevas a los pobres. Me ha enviado para vendar a los quebrantados de corazón, proclamar la libertad a los cautivos y la liberación de la oscuridad de los prisioneros …-Isaías 61:1

Los sacrificios de Dios son el espíritu quebrantado, un corazón contrito y humillado, oh Dios, tú no lo desprecias. Salmo 51:17

Para evitar que me presumido ser causa de estas superando grandes revelaciones, no me fue dado un aguijón en mi carne, un mensajero de Satanás, para atormentarme. Tres veces he rogado al Señor que lo quite de mí. Pero, agregó, : “Mi gracia es suficiente para ti, para mi poder se perfecciona en la debilidad.” Por tanto, me gloriaré más gusto en mis debilidades, para que el poder de Cristo puede descansar sobre mí. Por eso, por amor a Cristo, me gozo en las debilidades, en afrentas, en necesidades, en persecuciones, en las dificultades. Porque cuando soy débil, entonces soy fuerte “. -2 Corintios 12:7-10

Al acercarnos al final de Daniel corporativa de este año, rápido, ¿cómo lo estamos haciendo? ¿Estamos agotados? Cansado de la dieta? Frustrado con nuestras molestias físicas? ¿O estamos entusiasmados con las respuestas a la oración? Entusiasmado con las revelaciones y las estrategias que hemos adquirido ? Animado con más cercanía a la presencia de Dios? Una cosa que me ha recordado durante este ayuno es que soy débil, vaso roto. Es cierto que todos queremos ser victorioso guerrero superar hijos e hijas. Sin embargo, sólo podemos ser éstos cuando reconocemos nuestras debilidades antes de él. Al igual que Pablo, antes de nosotros, que, según su segunda carta a la iglesia en Corinto, experimentaron grandes revelaciones, pero fue atormentado en su carne para evitar la soberbia, nosotros, también, pueden haber recibido algunas awesome revelaciones en este rápido. Sin embargo, se nos recuerda que permanezcan bajas y permanecer en un espíritu humilde. Entonces, vamos a atraer a nuestro placer del Padre, el poder y la presencia en nuestras vidas.

Al reconocer nuestras debilidades, nos colocamos en una posición que siempre depende del Espíritu de Dios, que reside dentro de nosotros! Esa es una idea reconfortante, o es más importante, una importante verdad! El espíritu de nuestro Rey, nuestro Padre reside dentro de nosotros para darnos la ayuda, la fuerza y el poder cuando lo necesitamos. Él nos da a Sí mismo. ¿Cómo podemos vivir de otra manera? En este próximo año, tenemos grandes expectativas, ya que Él ha prometido mucho para nosotros. Hagamos pues de prensa sobre agarrar una bodega de todo lo que Él tiene para nosotros, pero en la humildad y debilidad, y por lo tanto en su gracia y su fuerza.

Que la gracia del Señor Jesucristo, y el amor de Dios y la comunión del Espíritu Santo sean con todos vosotros,
