Vision For Our City
Rock of Kansas City’s Vision:Rock of Kansas City’s vision is to advance God’s glory and kingdom in the Kansas City Metro Area, the surrounding 300 mile radius, and the nations by establishing a Christ-centered spiritual family which equips its members to be like Christ through the following ways: 1.) worships, prays, and fasts as a lifestyle 24/7, 2.) starts and multiplies interconnected Kingdom Families (House Churches) in which every member is in a 2’s and 3’s (Search & Rescue Team), 3.) Equips and mobilizes its family members to follow Christ and advance his kingdom holistically in every area of life (Rock Training Center), 4.) Solves practical problems such as hunger, housing, crime, education and employment with kingdom solutions (Rock Solid Urban Impact), 5.) Trains and mobilizes its members for World Missions.
Here again are the five ministry spheres necessary to bring kingdom reformation to the Church and kingdom transformation to our city, region, and nations:
1. Prayer and Worship: Prayer and worship are the catalysts for a kingdom revolution in our city (Matthew 6:9-10). On October 10, 2009, we dedicated our building called the “Portal” for city-wide night and day worship and prayer. Crying out for justice, day and night, provokes the Lord to act quickly on our behalf (Luke 18:1-8). In 2010 we plan to incorporate more night and day prayer/worship as God unites more people in Kansas City for this purpose.
2. Kingdom Families: Also known as House Churches, Kingdom Families are groups of people connected around the Lordship and Person of Christ and His manifest presence and glory as both a lifestyle and in a gathering at least once a week. They connect in deep loving relationships for the purpose of enabling one another to be radical disciples of Christ, reach the lost, advance the Kingdom of God in all areas of life in their cities/communities, and multiply more kingdom families.
3. Training & Equipping: We want to help equip believers to encounter Jesus and acquire biblical understanding of foundational doctrines, attributes, and the ways of God. Our commitment is to be disciples that have the ability to lead and take responsibility in the Kingdom of God. We have our biblical training on Sunday mornings, and have started the School of Foundations and the School of Leaders on Sunday nights.
4. Restorative Justice and Compassion: As a kingdom community that is located in the heart of the inner-city, we are in a great position to bring comprehensive solutions to the problems our city continues to face. We have established great working relationships with community groups, police officers, city council members, and the Mayor to further our ability to partner and serve our city. Currently, the Lykins neighborhood association meets monthly in the basement of “The Portal” to inform, motivate, and mobilize residents to make a positive practical impact.
5. Missions: International people groups are all around us. Located in the heart of the urban core, many immigrant refugees are found within close proximity of our urban missions base. We are committed to plant house churches among these groups locally. In addition to this, we see many of local house churches taking missions trips and/or moving together to other nations. Many people will come and go to other nations in our church family.
