Community Development

As a kingdom community that is located in the heart of the inner-city, we are in a great position to bring comprehensive solutions to the problems our city continues to face. Currently, the Lykins neighborhood association meets monthly in the basement of “The Portal” to inform, motivate, and mobilize residents to make a positive practical impact. We have 6 members of the church that hold a seat on the Lykins Neighborhood Association steering committee. We have established great working relationships with community groups, police officers, city council members, and the Mayor to further our ability to partner and serve our city.
How we are currently serving the community:
- BackSnack program for Gladstone and Northeast elementary schools (distribute 160 backpacks of food for under priviledged kids each weekend)
- Lykins Neighborhood Association
- Interaction with community leaders and KCMO police officers
- Neighborhood clean-ups and beautification
- Block watch training
- Urban farming and agriculture
- Food Pantry
Where we are going:
- Gather and equip a compassionate catalytic community who will live in the midst of the inner-city, providing love and practical solutions.
- Identify felt needs of communities and begin to provide solutions
- Build strategic partnerships with individuals, companies and churches / synagugues to provide combined resources.
- Help connect people in to loving, supportive natural and spiritual family relationships.
- Establish informal and formal equipping and training opportunities for urban youth
- Establish networking opportunities for urban, suburban, and rural people, so that they can mutually benefit one another in reaching work and life goals.
